Thursday, February 26, 2009Family history tripMy parents, Edward Friedl and Audrey Riley Friedl were born in South Dakota in 1933 and 1936. My dad's parents came over here from Germany and homesteaded 160 acres in Goodwin, South Dakota. Mom was born in Watertown. A few years ago, right after I lost my dad, I took a road trip to South Dakota. I got to walk the land my dad grew up on and see where my Mom grew up. I went to the Black Hills, the Badlands, and Custer State Park and Mt. Rushmore. I was able to visit with aunts, uncles and cousins that I have not seen in years. South Dakota was so beautiful and scenic. I had no idea what great place it is. The people were friendly and so down to earth. My 2 sisters are going back this summer and they cannot wait to get there!!! I can't wait to visit South Dakota again. |
