Road Trip 2006

My husband and I took our children on a three week cross country trip from NY to the coast of Oregon. We spent four days in South Dakota. The kids absolutely loved it. My boys loved Crazy Horse and each year they bring in the rock the got at Crazy Horse, along with photos and tell their new class the story of Crazy Horse the man and the "monument". I was truly moved by Devils tower, although technically it's in Wyoming, I still consider it part of the South Dakota portion of our trip. The Badlands were breathtaking. It was hard to leave such a beautiful place. Wall Drug...what else can I say other than you can't leave South Dakota without stopping at Wall Drug. We ended our South Dakota portion of our trip in Desmet, South Dakota at the Ingalls Homestead. Although, my children were not thrilled with the idea of stopping there, since this was a something I wanted to see being that I was a Laura Ingalls Wilder fan. It turned out to be a lot of fun for them. We are looking forward to going back to South Dakota in the near future and hopefully we will be able to spend a little more time then just four days.
