We finally turned canoeing on the Big Sioux River into a two day affair. We launched in Egan, SD. and paddled to Trent, South Dakota. This first leg of our trip took about 4 hours. Our Sunday afternoon was spent hiking and exploring the trails of Palisades State Park. It was our first time there and well worth the 15 minute drive from Sioux Falls. The park is so serene and peaceful, and the relatively easy hike to the top of the cliff walls provides a spectacular view of the area.
