DESCRIPTION:This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is a hysterical tweaking o
 n the fairy tale\, "The Princess and the Pea." In an unhappy kingdom\, Kin
 g Sextimus has been struck dumb by a witch?s curse and condemned not to sp
 eak again until ?the mouse devours the hawk!?  Queen Aggravain has assumed
  power and talks enough for everyone. She has decreed that no one in the K
 ingdom may wed until Prince Dauntless is married to a true princess of roy
 al blood. When Sir Harry and Lady Larken learn that they are going to be p
 arents\, wed or not\, Sir Harry is determined to find a true princess and 
 returns with Princess Winnifred. Prince Dauntless is very impressed and is
  soon in love.  The queen is horrified and begins to scheme\, but Winnifre
 d isn't going to be quite so easy to get rid of. The musical provides two 
 footnotes to theater history: its songs were composed by Mary Rodgers\, da
 ughter of Broadway composer Richard Rodgers\, and Carol Burnett first made
  her mark in the role of the princess.
