Lead (Leed), once home to prospectors and fortune-seekers, is now a haven for history buffs, outdoor enthusiasts and scientists!  Our 1-hour surface tour takes visitors through this historic mountain town and to the Homestake Gold Mine’s underground and surface operations, now the Sanford National Underground Science Lab. At the Mining Museum, you’ll take a closer look at Lead’s mining history in an underground simulated tour. This mountain town is a trail head for the 110-mile Mickelson Trail, once a Burlington Northern railhead, now a hiking and biking trail that meanders through six quaint Black Hills communities and seasonal snowmobile trail.  Blue ribbon trout streams and four golf courses are located minutes away. 

This fascinating history package starts at $220 for a family of 4 and includes:  2 nights lodging, the Homestake Surface Tour, the Black Hills Mining Museum, and The Black Hills Round House “Living Map” theater. 

Optional add-ons include a 1-hour tour of Deadwood, entrance to Deadwood’s Adams Museum and House and restaurant deals.

Activities are booked separately as you build  your package.  Changes to the package (more nights, upgraded room, more activities, extra person or older children) will automatically adjust the price.  If an activity from the package is not listed during your booking process, it may not be available for the dates you have chosen or has closed for the season.
