Visitor Information Centers
Sure, they make a great pit stop, but South Dakota's Interstate Information Centers along I-90 and I-29 offer much more.
Visitors can speak with travel counselors, pick up brochures, rent travel CDs, and look up road and weather information on computer kiosks. Many Information Centers can be identified by the large stone tipis. Look for them!
Travel Counselors
From mid-May to mid-September, a crew of more than 70 travel counselors staffs the Interstate Information Centers. These counselors will be sure to greet you with a smile and answer your travel questions, from how to get to Mount Rushmore to where to find the Corn Palace.
South Dakota Stories
"South Dakota Stories" is a set of four CDs: History, Scenic Highways and Byways, The Great Outdoors and Native American Heritage. The CDs cover several driving routes, including I-90; I-29; Highways 14, 212, and 12 to 83; the Lewis and Clark Trail; and the Black Hills. The CDs highlight sites, attractions and much about South Dakota history and Native American culture. The travel CDs can be rented at any of the South Dakota Information Centers, or you can download MP3s and bring them along.
Kiosks
Interactive information kiosks offer visitors immediate information about road construction, road conditions, and weather forecasts. All you need to do is touch a screen! Ask the travel counselors for assistance.

Note: The information desks close for the winter season, however, restrooms, pay phones, and information kiosks, where available, are still accessible.
