Rooster Rush 2011
Every fall hunters flock to the state to enjoy world-class pheasant hunting during South Dakota’s Rooster Rush.
Thanks to the excellent habitat, conservation and management efforts, South Dakota is home to over 8.5 million pheasants and is consistently the best state in the country for bird counts and harvests. Last year hunters bagged over 1.8 million birds during pheasant season. This year the season opens October 15, 2011 and runs through January 1, 2012.
