There are 12 state parks and 42 recreation areas located across the state offering a variety of camping opportunities, outdoor recreation and state history. The State of South Dakota also operates and maintains several nature areas, lakeside use and marina/resort areas, as well as the 114-mile Mickelson Trail and South Dakota’s snowmobile trails.
