PIERRE, SD - Many of South Dakota’s visitor industry businesses and organizations are receiving recognition from the Department of Tourism for delivering outstanding customer service.
The South Dakota Department of Tourism is awarding 137 South Dakota businesses and organizations in 45 communities with the Great Service Star. The Great Service Star program recognizes businesses that develop and complete hospitality training programs for their staff, recognize and reward employees for providing great service, and find unique ways to show customer appreciation.
“Their commitment to providing great customer service helps build on South Dakota’s reputation for having a warm, welcoming, and professional tourism industry,” said Jim Hagen, secretary of the South Dakota Department of Tourism. “This continued dedication to customer service brings visitors back to South Dakota year after year.”
Hagen said the Great Service Star award and logo are often used by recipients to help market their businesses and demonstrate their continued commitment to customer service.
The South Dakota Department of Tourism is comprised of Tourism, the South Dakota Arts Council, and the South Dakota State Historical Society. The Department is led by Secretary James D. Hagen.
