The Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo has announced a new event for the 2010 show. Wednesday, February 3, will feature the "Professional Saddle Bronc Championships" at the Pennington County Events Center starting at 7 p.m. The event is part of a three stop series which will feature the top contestants from the NFR and the top competitors in the Badlands Circuit which is comprised of North & South Dakota in the PRCA circuits.

This event will bring cowboys like JJ Elshere, Ryan Elshere, Jeff Willert, Wade Sundell, and Chad Ferley, among others to match up on NFR bucking stock.

The match will have a three round format beginning with 25 contestants and advancing the top 12 to the second round. The top 6 of this round will advance to the finals. This will give the audience a chance to watch these professionals on three mounts in the same night. It will truly be a test for these top competitors as they compete for over $10,000 in prize monies.

"The concept for the event is to match our best circuit cowboys against the best in the NFR with each having an equal chance to win because our bucking stock will be even for everyone," said Branden West, one of the organizers of the event.

Burch Rodeo Company from Rozet, WY and Korkow Rodeos from Blunt, SD will provide the stock including many of the NFR bucking stock.

The other two events in the series are the Casey Tibbs Match of Champions held in Ft Pierre on Saturday, June 5, and the Philip Invitations Saddle Bronc Match in Philip on Friday, June 19. Both of these events will also have more than $10,000 in prize monies and top NFR stock.

Advance discount tickets are available at Family Thrift Stores in Rapid City, or online for the February 3 event. For a schedule events, go to
