The Pepsi Racing Power Cup Challenge presented by River City Racin’ will return for its second year in Chamberlain-Oacoma, SD, July 11-12, 2009.
The Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing Association (ULHRA) has announced a full fleet of teams vying for points and bragging rights racing on an oval course at speeds up to 150 mph. Other event highlights include a car show, air show, other on-water entertainment, Sanford Children’s Play Area, food vendors and quality family music and comedy acts on the main stage.
ULHRA has earmarked Chamberlain-Oacoma as one of the finest race sites in its circuit and for the second year chosen the Pepsi Racing Power Cup Challenge as the first race in the ‘Gauntlet Series’. The ‘Gauntlet’ will challenge race teams to five races in five weeks with stamina playing as large a role as speed.   John Lynch, the “Voice” of the ULHRA will once again emcee the event.
“After just one race in 2008 those fine folks in South Dakota could teach a thing or two to some other race sites,” Lynch said. “Year two will bring more of the same, only better!”
A one of a kind event for the Midwest, the Pepsi Racing Power Cup Challenge hosted over 5,000 spectators in attendance in its inaugural year in 2008.  With support from the South Dakota Office of Tourism’s Million Dollar Challenge, the second annual event has exceeded all expectations and has become a South Dakota destination event for families and race fans.
