RAPID CITY, SD (5/15/09) The 5th Annual Black Hills Overdrive Car Show and Cruises will be held June 11-14 in Rapid City and other sites in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

The Black Hills Overdrive is a car rally for owners of cruisers, street rods, custom and specialty vehicles. Drivers and passengers have the opportunity to cruise through a variety of beautiful scenic byways in the Black Hills including the Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road and Spearfish Canyon.

Along with the relaxing rides through the scenic Black Hills, plenty of events have been planned for participants.

-          June 11-12: The Early-Bird Fort Hays Chuckwagon Supper and Show will be put on by the Fort Hays Cowboys, and a 45-minute cruise through the Southern Hills to Custer, where the Custer City Show N’ Shine will be held, is scheduled for Saturday the 12th. After judging, the cars will hit the road again on the Concours de Custer, a gorgeous jaunt through Custer State Park where entertainment will be provided at Calvin Coolidge’s summer home.

-          June 13 marks the date for the cruise through Spearfish Canyon and the Rapid City Show N’ Shine, the event’s first fully-judged car show to be held in downtown Rapid City. Twenty-five awards will be handed out to car and truck owners. That evening’s Cruiser Night Parade will allow the proud owners to display their vehicles to the public.

-          June 14: A farewell breakfast will be held at Mount Rushmore National Monument on Sunday the 14th. The breakfast will provide great photo opportunities for drivers and their families along with their vehicles in front of the monument.

The host hotel for the 2009 is Rapid City/Mount Rushmore Radisson. A special price will be given to Overdrive participants. Maps, fees and a listing of sponsors can be found on the Black Hills Overdrive Web site, along with an online registration form at http://bhoverdrive.com.
