Museum’s archived pieces show varied artwork seldom seen

BROOKINGS, S.D. — The South Dakota Art Museum will display “Works on Paper” through Sept. 20. The exhibit features select works from the museum’s extensive collection.

“Works on Paper” includes 38 pieces of artwork on paper made with a variety of media, including lithographs, etchings, acrylics, watercolors and drawings. Featured artists range from local teachers and SDSU graduates to nationally acclaimed artists.

“Many of these pieces have not been displayed for a number of years,” said John Rychtarik, curator of the South Dakota Art Museum. “We wanted patrons to see the wonderful works of art we have in our collection.” 

The South Dakota Art Museum is located at the junction of Medary Avenue and Harvey Dunn Street. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 pm and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. Please call toll free (866) 805-7590 or visit for more information.
