15 communities participate in website marketing project

Sioux Falls, S.D.– Tourism remains one of the largest industries in South Dakota and has seen continued strong growth in recent years. Seeking to sustain this momentum and also to create an increased level of awareness for the tourist destinations in/around Southeast South Dakota, several communities in this region have joined together to form the Southeast Website Marketing Partnership (SWMP).
The member organizations of the SWMP have pooled financial resources, as well as organization best practices, and are utilizing the Governor’s Million Dollar Challenge Grant program to fund this initiative for a focused online marketing effort. Through website, email, search, social media, online advertising, and other vehicles, the SWMP organizations seek to create an increased level of awareness for Southeast South Dakota attractions and ultimately, convert online surfers to offline visitors.
The SWMP includes 15 communities that have partnered together to drive online traffic. The communities and organizations involved are: Brandon Chamber, City of Delmont, City of Freeman, City of Garretson, City of Parkston, City of Platte, Corn Place CVB, Madison Chamber, Planning District III Yankton, Sioux Falls CVB, SD Office of Tourism, Southeast SD Tourism Association, Vermillion Chamber, Wagner Chamber and Yankton CVB.
The Southeast Website Marketing Partnership is a recipient of Governor’s Million Dollar Challenge Program. The Governor’s Million Dollar Challenge program is part of Goal 1 of the 2010 initiative to double visitor spending in South Dakota.
