Deadwood, S.D. - Due to overwhelming support from the Deadwood community, the Deadwood Jam will be held on Sept. 11-12, 2009.
The Deadwood Jam committee voted Monday to move the dates back one week after community members voiced their concerns over moving the Jam ahead one week.
“Our all-volunteer board members are thrilled by the show of support and loyalty from the Jam audience, and we’re more than happy to accommodate them and our sponsors by moving the festival to a weekend that works best for all of them,” said Matthew Pike, Deadwood Jam committee chair.
Deadwood Chamber director George Milos applauds the Jam committee’s decision. “The community stands behind the Deadwood Jam, and after hearing concerns from the community about a potential date change, the Deadwood Jam stood behind the community and the committee voted to keep the original dates,” Milos said.
The premiere musical event in the Black Hills, the 2009 Deadwood Jam line-up will be announced in coming weeks. Now in its 19th year, the Deadwood Jam stage has featured a variety of leading musical acts, including the Wallflowers, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Collective Soul, The Young Dubliners, Edgar and Johnny Winter, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Robert Cray, Koko Taylor, The Commodores and many others.  The 2009 Deadwood Jam promises to fulfill its commitment to bringing a wide array of top musical talent to the Black Hills from celebrated acts to newcomers, risings stars and local talent.
