(Sioux Falls, SD 08/0108) - The Kirby Science Discovery Center (KSDC) will soon be taking delivery of its’ new "Tornado Booth" exhibit which is currently undergoing testing with the National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture Convention in Oshkosh, WI this week from July 28-August 3.
The Tornado Booth, dubbed "Prairie Storm" by the KSDC staff, will be installed at the Kirby Science Discovery Center’s second floor in the Air & Space gallery the third week of August and ready for its first guest participants on Friday, August 15.
The tornado simulator offers a fast fun ride that delivers winds in excess of 78 mph with video, sound and vibration, all in a self operated vertical tube. Chris Rossing, Director of the KSDC, says that this exhibit will not only deliver a fun experience but also educate visitors on the power that Mother Nature possesses by giving people a small taste of what it is like to be in a fullblown tornado. "I am really excited to have this exhibit installed at the Kirby Science Discovery Center as it will bring a new-found respect for nature while also bringing a huge smile to your face!"
