TIPIS AND TELESCOPES AT BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK

Dr. Paige Baker, Superintendent, has announced the summer schedule of interpretive programs for Badlands National Park will take effect June 15, 2008.
            Beginning June 15, 2008, the Ben Reifel Visitor Center will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily with the evening program presented at 9:00 p.m. each day.
            New summer programs this year include a Tipi Village located between the Cedar Pass Lodge and the Ben Reifel Visitor Center. Native American cultural programs will be presented and traditional Lakota arts and crafts will be for sale at the village. A Night Sky program will be presented every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening beginning at 9 pm at the amphitheater. Visitors will be able to hear a presentation from a park ranger and view the night sky through a large telescope. Ranger led geology and prairie walks, fossil talks and Junior Ranger programs will also be presented daily through Labor Day.
            The hours for Cedar Pass Lodge and Gift Shop will be as follows:
            June 15 – September 8, 2008 – 7 am to 9 pm
