PIERRE, S.D. – The 2009 South Dakota Governor’s Conference on Tourism will be held Jan. 21-22 at the Ramkota RiverCentre in Pierre. The South Dakota Office of Tourism organizes the event and encourages all members of the state’s visitor industry to attend. This year’s theme is "Destination 2010: Making the Connection."
In addition to expert-led sessions, there will be a banquet on Thursday evening to present tourism awards. Nomination forms for the annual awards, the Ben Black Elk Award and A.H. Pankow Award, are available on www.SDVisit.com. The deadline to submit a nomination is September 5, 2008.

The annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism is part of Goal 1 of the 2010 Initiative to double visitor spending in South Dakota. The Office of Tourism serves under the direction of Richard Benda, secretary of the Department of Tourism and State Development.
