MOUNT RUSHMORE N.M., S.D. – News crews are invited to visit the Memorial at any time, but there will be three scheduled media events in preparation for the Tuesday, July 3, Independence Day Celebration.
Due to a change in the hauling schedule of the fireworks, the Thursday,June 28 media event has been cancelled. The use of the tramway and thetransportation of fireworks will begin on Friday morning, June 29 andcan be seen during the media event at 10:00 a.m.
When: Friday, June 29, at 10 a.m.
What: Fireworks set-up on top of the Memorial. Mediarepresentatives will have the opportunity to hike to thetop of the memorial.
Where: Meet at the Grand View Terrace. (Park in the PresidentialParking Lot.)

Note: The hike to the top is very strenuous! Pack light, bringwater, sunscreen, and good hiking boots. (Consider sharing a tripod between news crews.)
When: Tuesday, July 3, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
What: Barbeque lunch provided to thank volunteer firefighters participating in the Independence Day Celebrations.Following lunch, there will be a briefing for firefighters before they leave for their assigned areas.

What: Opportunity to view festivities associated with July 3Independence Day Celebration activities.
Where: Memorial Grounds. One parking space is being held in theAdministration Lot for the media. Call 574-3147(beginning Tuesday, June 26) to reserve the space for 60 minutes. We hope to be able to rotate through any mediarepresentatives that want to stop by to shoot or research a story. Plan for extended travel time to Mount Rushmore, as traffic into the Memorial will be slow.
