RVing Author Makes Local Appearance

Some thirty-four million tourists are expected to be on the highways of North America this summer, between eight and ten million of them driving a recreation vehicle. One of those is Elsi Dodge, a single sexagenarian behind the wheel of a 30-foot-long RV. Dodge, accompanied by Lady, her elderly beagle, and Dolphin, a small cat will drive into Mitchell Wednesday, June 13. She will be signing copies of her new book, RV Tourist: Tips, Tools, and Stories, at the Reader’s Den that evening, June 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., as well as at the Mitchell KOA Friday and Saturday evenings, June 15 and 16.

RV Tourist gives an overview of the RV lifestyle, from choosing a rig and planning an itinerary to adjusting the mirrors and scrap booking pictures and fliers. Easily applied information, tools for dealing with common problems, and tips to further enjoy RV travel are intermingled with stories of adventures Dodge has had in the Meandering Moose, her RV.

“I’m excited to meet David Volk at the Readers Den signing,” Dodge said. “I grew up in the Viet Nam era; I have friends who moved to Canada to avoid the draft, and others who served in the armed forces. David’s Draftee: A High School Teacher Goes to War sounds fascinating!

“I really enjoy Mitchell’s friendliness and central location,” Dodge went on. “Last summer, when I was camped at the KOA, Dolphin fell madly in love with a cat in a neighboring RV. He was heartbroken when her family drove away!”

“It’s great to be back in Mitchell again. I wrote about my visits here in a couple of chapters of RV Tourist. I’m eager to see this year’s plans for the Corn Palace.”

In addition to the book signings and presentations, Dodge can be reached at The Meandering Moose at the Mitchell KOA or by email:
