South Dakota Hosts International Tour Operators
PIERRE, S.D. – Tour operators from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States will gather in Deadwood and Hot Springs today and tomorrow for the 13th annual Rocky Mountain International (RMI) Roundup.
During the Roundup, 71 suppliers representing South Dakota and surrounding states will meet with international and domestic tour operators to promote their product and conduct business one-on-one. Tour operators were also invited on pre-Roundup familiarization tours of the Black Hills region.
“We’re incredibly honored to host the RMI Roundup in South Dakota this year,” said Maureen Droz, Trade Sales & Marketing Manager of the South Dakota Office of Tourism. “This is a wonderful opportunity for businesses, destinations and attractions throughout South Dakota to meet with international tour operators who are specifically interested in touring here.”
Rocky Mountain International (RMI) was formed in 1990 and coordinates international tourism activities for the state tourism departments of Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming - The Real America - as a region. Membership in Rocky Mountain International is a component of the 2010 Initiative goal to double visitor spending.
