Travel Counselors Needed For Interstate Information Centers

PIERRE, S.D. - The South Dakota Office of Tourism is now accepting applications for travel counselors and supervisors at 10 Information Centers along Interstates 29 and 90.

Travel counselors are needed May through September to greet visitors, suggest travel routes and promote South Dakota’s “Great Faces. Great Places.” The Interstate Information Centers open May 12 and operate 10 hours per day, seven days a week.

Applicants must be high-school graduates and available to participate in training April 26–May 3. Applicants must be able to work into September or until classes resume for counselors who attend college. Counselors must possess knowledge of South Dakota history, visitor attractions and excellent communication skills.

Positions are available at the following Interstate Information Centers: Chamberlain, New Effington, Salem, Spearfish, Tilford, Valley Springs, Vermillion, Vivian, Wasta and Wilmot.

Online applications must be sent as an attachment and can be e-mailed to natasha.bothun@state.sd.us or mailed to the Office of Tourism, 711 E. Wells Ave., Pierre, SD 57501-3369. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 12. Applicants must indicate the position and location desired.
