Gary Allan Returns to the Streets of Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Returning to Sioux Falls to headline the 2005 Sidewalk Arts Festival Street Dance is one of country music’s hottest talents, Gary Allan. Allan will headline the concert on Saturday, Sept. 10 which begins at 6 p.m. with local rock band Vermillion then Kory and the Fireflies will open for Allan, who will take the stage at approximately 9 p.m. Tickets are only $10 plus tax in advance and $15 day of show (inc. tax). Tickets will go on sale Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m.
Allan has sold over four million albums and has had several top ten hits. His newest album, Tough All Over is scheduled to be released October 11. His current hit single “The Best I Ever Had” has been hovering around the American charts at #20. Allan scored a number one single with “Man to Man” and “The One” reached number three, both off his 2001 gold album, Alright Guy.
Often described as “Nashville’s best kept secret”, Allan perhaps earns the tag due to his “cowboy surfer” image and the fact that he still resides in his childhood state of California in Huntington Beach. Ever the country music traditionalist, Allan has held true to the examples set forth by his idols that include Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. However, Allan manages to artfully evoke the California rocker vibe inspired by groups like Jane’s Addiction and the Blasters.
Allan began performing in clubs at the age of 12 with his dad and older brother. By 14 he was writing songs and when he was 15 he was offered his first record contract – which he turned down. Allan has long been known for his controlled and slower pace of carefully choosing the direction of his career. Allan says, “I think we walk the line between commercial success and critical acclaim. It’s made our career start slower, but I think we’ll be around a lot longer.”
This year’s concert will take place in the parking lot of Home Federal Bank with acts performing on the Home Federal Entertainment Stage. Food and beverage vendors will populate the perimeter and the stage will be located in the northwest corner. KTWB 101.9 FM is the official radio sponsor.
