Saddle Up for Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo

MITCHELL, S.D. - Broncs and bulls, blood, sweat and tears. Prepare for the excitement of the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo set for July 13-16. Experience rodeo action at its finest during this four-day event. South Dakota's western heritage comes alive with barrel racing, team roping and nightly rodeo performances. Watch top-name contestants compete in high stakes events. Enjoy the rodeo parade and savor some home-cooking at the chili cook-off. Dance to live music at the Rodeo Zone Party Tent. "This is a great family event," said Chairman Lance Carson. "It's a wonderful chance to enjoy four days of fun-filled events connecting spectators to South Dakota's heritage." The Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo has been designated a "Great Event" by the South Dakota Office of Tourism. The Office of Tourism provides assistance to event coordinators and supports promotional efforts for designated events in order to boost visitor spending and to increase the economic impact in host communities. The Great Events campaign is one component of the 2010 Initiative, which includes doubling visitor spending to $1.2 billion by 2010.
