PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Group Tour Planning Guide, an all-in-one tool for group tour operators, is being updated for 2007. The guide provides a comprehensive overview of group destinations and attractions statewide. It also contains maps and mileage charts, sample itineraries, escort notes and listings of attractions, accommodations, casinos, restaurants and services. “A typical motorcoach tour spends between $5,000 and $7,500 per day in a community,” said Billie Jo Waara, director of the South Dakota Office of Tourism. “Getting those buses to stop in our communities, whether for lunch, to tour a museum, or an overnight stay, means added income for businesses, communities and the state.” Businesses interested in pursuing the profitable group tour market can participate in the cooperative guide which reaches nearly 5,000 tour operators around the globe. Information from the Group Tour Planning Guide is also listed on, South Dakota’s Web site designed specifically for group tour operators.
