Visitor Industry Gathers in Pierre

PIERRE, S.D. – The 2006 South Dakota Governor’s Conference on Tourism is set for Jan. 18-19 at the Ramkota RiverCentre in Pierre. All members of the state’s visitor industry are encouraged to attend the event, which is organized by the South Dakota Office of Tourism. The conference theme is “Destination 2010: Get on Board.” Experts will lead sessions about the rules of successful tourism marketing, agritourism, e-commerce trends and outstanding customer service. Other sessions will address effective packaging and making the most of marketing dollars. Attendees will also hear about Tourism’s 2006 marketing plans and have the opportunity to meet with Web site and print experts for free consultations. Social activities include a Team South Dakota reception and the Awards Night Gala, an evening awards dinner featuring remarks by Gov. Mike Rounds.
