Tourism Targets Film Industry
PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Office of Tourism is revamping the film office Web site, FilmSD.com. The enhanced site will market South Dakota as a filming location and serve as a resource to the film industry. Individuals and businesses who service the film and video industries may receive a free listing on the Web site.
The Web site will feature a comprehensive crew and service database, a tool used to find qualified personnel for film projects. Anyone with film-related experience is encouraged to submit a listing since filmmakers typically contact the film office first when searching for skilled workers.
Examples of categories individuals may be listed under include: actors, production assistants, costume designers, set decorators, re-enactors, medical personnel, location scouts, hair stylists, production equipment, photographers, catering and security services along with many other talents needed during the filmmaking process.
Contact Ann Garry at the South Dakota Office of Tourism, (605) 773-3301 or firstname.lastname@example.org to include your listing on FilmSD.com.
The South Dakota Film Office is part of the Office of Tourism and markets South Dakota as a filming destination and facilitates filming within the state. Its efforts fit into the 2010 Initiative goal of doubling visitor spending in the state to $1.2 billion by the year 2010.
