The lands of South Dakota were once home to majestic wild buffalo herds. The Buffalo Interpretive Center on the Lower Brule Sioux Indian Reservation pays tribute to these herds and the ancient prairies on which they roamed. Located south of Pierre on historic Highway 1806, the center is a symbol of the important role buffalo played in both the everyday and spiritual life of the Sioux tribe.
