Palmer Gulch Lodge is the area's most complete resort facility and is located 5 miles west of Mt Rushmore on Highway 244. The Lodge at Palmer Gulch has 62 lodge rooms, 35 mountain cabins, and Mt Rushmore/Hill City KOA-RV hookup sites, tent sites, and camping cabins.

Take advantage of "Ride the Peak" horseback rides up Harney Peak, Willow Creek, Mushroom Rock horse back rides, heated pools, spas, water slide, sauna, mini golf or bike rentals. Our newer property attractions include the Splash Park, Water Cannons, Ground Geysers, Cylinder Sprays and the KOA Jumping Pillow. Food services and gift shops with South Dakota made products. In the evening relax around the campfire and enjoy the beautiful views of Harney Peak and Elkhorn. Resort activity program include live bands, cowboy poets, gold panning, horse drawn hay rides, movies, and a night time lighting ceremony to Mt Rushmore for $6.00 per person. Some of the other activities include giant chess and checkers games, horseshoes, volleyball and basketball courts, two playgrounds, softball and soccer fields, fishing pond, hiking and biking trails and worship services. Continental Breakfast includes cereal, toast, juice, coffee/tea and milk.

Pet Policy: Pet Friendly rooms and cabins. No pets allowed in the Executive Lodges. Pet Fee: Nonrefundable $20 per pet, per night. Lodge rooms and rustic cabins only. No unattended pets allowed in rooms. Must be kept on a leash when outside and clean up after. Aggressive breeds are not allowed.

Palmer Gulch is near Mt Rushmore National Monument, Crazy Horse Monument, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, and Custer State Park.
