The Shady Rest Motel

The Shady Rest Motel is nestled in the pines along the slope of a lovely forested hill conveniently located just three blocks from the heart of downtown Custer. Bordered by City Park on two sides, we offer easy access to play equipment for children and covered picnic areas with grills for family gatherings.

All of our guests receive passes to the Custer City Pool (seasonal) located just three blocks north of our grounds. Biking enthusiasts and those who enjoy scenic hikes will appreciate our quick access to the Mickelson Trail as well as local shopping and restaurants--without the noise and confusion of visitor traffic.

With beautiful knotty-pine interiors, our clean, comfortable, air-conditioned cabins offer unique floor-plans, private bathrooms, kitchenettes, WI-FI, cable TV, and decks. For larger families or those traveling in groups, our Hunting Lodge is available year-round and can sleep 10.

Custer is the perfect launching place for most Black Hills adventures. Centrally located, this charming community is located just minutes from Mt. Rushmore National Memorial, Jewel Cave NM, Wind Cave NP, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse Memorial as well as some of South Dakota’s best hiking, climbing, biking and fishing resources!

This package offers an enchanting two-hour horseback riding adventure as well as a comfortable overnight stay in a clean, family-friendly cabin with a kitchenette near down-town Custer. Discounts at local eateries also offered! Package rates for singles, couples, and families available.

Package Details:
One night stay at the Shady Rest Motel cabins in Custer and a two hour trail ride at the Country Charm Cabins and Corrals south of town. Promotion rates subject to availability. Additional nights stay in cabin or extended or multiple trail rides extra. Stays at the Shady Rest Motel of three nights or longer are discounted further. Linens provided for the cabins, hot tub and charcoal grills on site, Wi-Fi, cable TV, complimentary passes to city pool (seasonal), partial or full kitchenettes in all cabins—go to shady-rest-motel.com for floor plans and specific cabin amenities or call 605-673-4478. Trail Riders must be at least 6 years old, less than 250 pounds and in general good health unless specific approval given by wrangler. Rides offered at 10 am and 4pm daily. Taxes not included.
