Return of the Bison to Wind Cave 100 years ago

Hot Springs, SD

The event Program begins on Friday night August 16 at WCNP Visitor Center starting at 7 pm. Tom Farrell, Chief of Interpretation, will present a program “The return of the bison: the decision that shaped Wind Cave National Park” and then the award-winning movie "The Vanishing Prairie" at the Visitor Center. On Saturday at 9 am, a tour/hike entitled “Exploring the Past: A Visit to the Forgotten Wind Cave National Game Preserve,” will be offered at no charge. Saturday August 17th there will be an outdoor art show honoring the bison in Hot Springs at the Mueller Center. A star quilt by Freda Goodsell will be raffled off. There will be food vendors, displays, and activities for children and adults culminating with an evening show at 7pm by Jack Gladstone, Montana’s Blackfeet Troubadour. Tickets for the quilt and Jack Gladstone will be available at the Wind Cave bookstore, Black Hills Books & Treasures, the Chamber of Commerce and the website (www.friendsofwindcavenp.org) in July.
