Woonsocket, located about 30 miles north of Mitchell, South Dakota, began in 1883 at the junction of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroads. The town is best known for its hunting, its watermelons and its beautiful Lake Prior.

With a concrete swimming area, triple flume slide, swans, walkways and gazebo, the lake is the setting for year-round festivities and celebrations.
