20,000 years ago, north east South Dakota where Sisseton sits, was covered by massive glaciers of the last ice age. As they receded, they left behind stunning rolling hills, which spawned numerous legends among the ancient Native American tribes.
Sica Hollow State Park (pronounced She-Cha) is one of these mystery shrouded places, with reddish bogs the Indians believed to be the flesh and blood of their ancestors. The park also features National Natural Landmarks and a National Recreation Trail.
