Silver City is located just west of Rapid City, deep in the Black Hills National Forest, and was named in the days when the hills were bustling with miners hoping to strike it rich on silver, gold or mercury. You can still visit some of the original buildings from that era, including the cabin built in 1877 by John Gorman, one of Silver City’s founders.
