Located sixty miles west of Pierre, the state capital, at the junction of U.S. Highways 14 and 63, Midland, South Dakota has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1890 by J.C. Russell.
Despite its small size, Midland is well known throughout the region for their Vikings high school basketball team, and their Tumblers, who were once called the best half-time entertainment performers in South Dakota.
