Lake City is home to two state parks— Fort Sisseton State Park and Roy Lake State Park. Fort Sisseton, was established in 1864 to protect earlier settlers. During the years following the Great Depression, the WPA restored the fort, its officer’s quarters and barracks.
Today, Fort Sisseton offers camping, dinner theater, guided tours and an annual Calvary demonstration and reenactment.
