Hoven, in north central South Dakota, is best known for its “Cathedral on the Prairie.” St. Anthony of Padua Church was constructed in the 1920s after the cathedrals of Bavaria and registered as a National Historical Landmark under the original parish name of St. Bernard’s. It’s said that on a clear night the spires of the cathedral can be seen for miles.
