The town now known as Hitchcock was established in 1881 as Clarksville. In 1885, it was incorporated as Altoona, but a few years later it was changed again and named after a Chicago settler, Charles Hitchcock.
Located in Beadle County, near the town of Huron, Hitchcock is a small farming community that offers hunting lodges, guides and a local museum showcasing the town’s history.
