Fort Pierre

Fort Pierre is located on the western shores of the Missouri River. Home to nine-time World Champion rodeo star Casey Tibbs, Ft. Pierre is surrounded by western culture and early frontier history. Visitors can stop at The Verendrye Monument, where two French explorers buried a lead plate claiming the area for France in 1743.

In 1804, two other explorers, Lewis and Clark, also passed through the area. Fort Pierre is located along the Native American Scenic Byway. Come discover the history and heritage that make up the Pierre area.
