Elk Point, located on I-29 near the South Dakota/Iowa border, is full of history. In 1804, the Lewis and Clark expedition made camp here and held the first ever election west of the Mississippi River.
Elk Point was also a stopping point for the U.S. Calvary running from Sioux City, IA to Fort Randall, South Dakota. Visitors will find a charming city, old soda fountain and plenty of recreation.
