South Dakota State Parks
The South Dakota State Park system features 54 state parks and recreation areas that showcase South Dakota's natural beauty and boundless recreational opportunities.
The Department of Game, Fish & Parks manages these parks as well as six nature areas, an historic prairie, 69 lakeside use areas, and the 114-mile Mickelson Trail.
Recreation for All Ages
South Dakota's broad expanses of prairies, back-country mountains, plentiful lakes and lush woods allow for plenty of room to play. There are clear lakes for fishing, sailing and swimming; woodland trails for hiking, biking and riding; rivers for kayaking and canoeing; and frontier forts for exploring. Spend a day or a week.
