Since 1970, the South Dakota Art Museum has been a place for people from many different parts of the world to enjoy the artistic legacy of South Dakota in all its diversity. Six galleries feature a dynamic exhibition schedule. Exhibits feature harvey Dunn, Native American art, Marghab Linens and Paul Goble; as well as regional, national and international artists.

Museum Store: Regional or International - the South Dakota Art Museum Store represents it all. A wide variety of unique pieces are available for sale - from handmade jewelry, to colorful pottery and exquisite paintings, the objects are original works of outstanding quality. Many beaders and fiber enthusiasts come to the Museum Store for the many unique beads, findings, and internationally obtained fabrics. Known for its book selection, the Museum Store offers South Dakota history and culture as well as South Dakota authors.
