Located on the campus of St. Joseph’s Indian the Akta Lakota Museum & Cultural Center is the only Native American center of its kind. More than a just a museum in the traditional sense, the Akta Lakota Museum offers visitors an experience with a living lesson on the Native American way of life – both past and present.
With over 14,000 square feet of display space, the museum’s collection features art, artifacts and educational displays depicting the proud heritage of the Lakota people. Visitors benefit from a mini-theater, English-Lakota exhibit descriptions, inter-active displays and a stunning Gift Shop and Collector’s Gallery where local artists display and sell their work.
